    Raised in India, Dr. Banaji achieved high honors in physics, chemistry, mathematics, and biology at Sri Ramakrishna Vidyashala in Mysore. He then pursued a Doctor of Medicine (MBBS) degree from JJM Medical College at the University of Mysore. His medical journey began in 1987 with a comprehensive internship at Chigateri General Hospital in Davangere, where he gained invaluable experience across various specialties, including surgery, obstetrics, and gynecology.

     

    Residency and Early Career Days

     

    Dr. Banaji further honed his skills in India, focusing on anesthesiology at the prestigious Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh from 1989 to 1993. His research there, which examined the effects of neuromuscular blockers in children, was published in the PGIMER Bulletin in 1992. Seeking broader horizons, he relocated to the United States in 1993, where he passed his medical licensing exams and subsequently completed a residency in Internal Medicine at East Tennessee State University, earning accolades as the "Outstanding Internal Medicine Resident" in 1998. 

     

    Defining Moments in His Career 

     

    Upon completing his residency, Dr. Banaji moved to Arkansas in 2000, initially working in private practice and as an emergency room physician. His profound impact began in Forrest City, where he addressed the critical healthcare needs of this rural community. In 2005, he established his practice, Internal Medicine of Forrest City. He later assumed the role of Medical Director at Earle Family Medical Clinic in 2008, extending his care to smaller communities.

     

    Expertise in Chronic Care and Value-Based Programs

     

    Dr. Banaji excels in managing chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, arthritis, and COPD, with a particular focus on elderly care. He is adept at implementing value-based healthcare programs like the PCMH, Primary Care First, and CPC+ to enhance healthcare quality and efficiency.

     

    Professional Accomplishments 

     

    Dr. Banaji was honored as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians in 2016, recognizing his substantial contributions to the field.

    Outside of medicine, Dr. Banaji cherishes time with his family, enjoying movies, music, and golf. He is also passionate about traveling and exploring new destinations with his loved ones. Together with his wife, who is also a partner in his practice, they operate two medical offices in Forrest City and Earle, Arkansas, continuing their commitment to community health.
